Using CAB Files

                  Java's JAR files are not currently ready for prime-time, real-life
                  Web development yet. The Java v1.1 core class files have not been
                  added to most Web browsers, and most browsers have not yet been
                  updated to use the JAR files.

                  Microsoft's Internet Explorer has been outfitted to work with CAB
                  files, however. And Visual J++ v1.0 includes a CAB file creation
                  utility. Later versions of Visual J++ also will have a CAB Wizard,
                  which will make it even easier to create and distribute CAB files
                  for your applets.

                  The CAB file creation utility instructions and executables are
                  distributed with Visual J++. On the Visual J++ CD, you can install
                  the CAB file creation kit by running the program
                  CABDEVKIT.EXE, located under the CAB&SIGN directory off
                  the Visual J++ CD's root. Installation of the CAB file development
                  kit is also one of the options available when installing Visual J++.

                  To find out more about creating and using CAB files, read the
                  OVERVIEW.HTM file located in the CAB&SIGN directory off
                  the root of your Visual J++ CD. In that overview file are the
                  instructions needed to create and use CAB files in your Visual
                  J++-generated applets. That overview file also contains pointers to
                  other information about CAB files and code signing.
